Dear New York City, Ive been trying for two days now to pay an excessively priced traffic violation which you have been kind enough to give me only 14 days to payoff before late fees start to kick in. Youve also managed to place seemingly insurmountable obstacles in the path to achieving the goal of paying this off. At first when I encountered the $7.50 toll to cross a bridge I thought ok, infrastructure needs to be maintained, then I paid for parking at a meter and realized that 0.50 cents is only worth 8-9 minutes. I thought that was pretty unjustified, but when I got pulled over in times square for taking a left turn when following a cab driver and got a traffic violation of $136 plus another $136 for not wearing my seat belt, I became convinced that NYC officials either believe everyone in that city who drives is rich, or theyre just a bunch of money hungry assh*les. Furthermore, In the last two days I have dialed NINE (9) different phone numbers, half of which are no longer in service but are still being referenced by automated voice recordings and the other half either give a busy tone or refer back to one of the numbers that are no longer in service. I have even called Rochester and Bufffalo DMV to try and resolve this issue. They both said that I need to try the websites. Two different websites Ive tried keep responding with error messages like we are currently experiencing difficulties or the ticket information can not be found. My point is this, all the talk of NYC being a world class city, and a great place to visit is in stark contrast to the bullsh*t that people have to deal with in order to comply with the ordinances in the city (and Ive not even begun to get into the BS ordinances that are currently plaguing lower income communities like stop and frisk and blocking a pedestrian pathway). To NYC public services and officials I say this; you really need to get your sh*t together. Stop focusing so much on trying to make every possible dollar and use some of the millions of dollars that your squeezing out of ordinary everyday people to improve your public services infrastructure. Because Im damn sure that if I dont pay my tickets on time, you will be absolutely efficient in trying to hold me accountable for paying late fees. Why not focus more on not making people have to go through hell and back to try and pay their citations. #NYC #newyorkcity #crooks #letmepayyou #commonsense #mayordiblasio #billdiblasio #NYPD
