Dear Northallerton Friends REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL - SATURDAY 28 JUNE LETS CELEBRATE - Northallerton Homegrown Food Festival 2014 - Applegarth Pleased to say that RTBC now back on front foot to welcome back the Annual Homegrown Food Festival to the Applegarth ( School Field + Bonfire site + Car Park ) tomorrow from 10-00am to 4-00pm. Bearing in mind the event concept is only two years old ( ie this is only the third Homegrown Food ) the anticipation is electric - knowing the expectation is high for the skill & enthusiasm of the dedicated band of organisers to deliver on the promise to make the event bigger and better than the last one. I really cannot think of any local event concept that has taken off so successfully in the town - it is now the premier event of the summer drawing thousands of people to it from far + wide + local. Perhaps its success is in its title Homegrownfood - who knows what has sparked such a special atmosphere - the admission is free - its a safe environment for families / children - generally interactive - 84 ( yes -eighty four ) stalls offering local produce , including tasting + live music + loads of activities associated with food production. Perhaps people come in droves to experience cooking demonstrations & learn from numerous Celebrity Chefs ,inc star act Brian Turner. Knowing the Event doesnt organise itself - Chair Sally Anderson and hard working team ( you know who you are ) take a bow + also knowing the event doesnt pay for itself - all sponsors ( you also know who you are ) take a bow - Northallerton cannot wait for tomorrow - we look forward to being there - The Applegarth is quite simply the only place to be !
