Dear Northallerton Friends REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL - SATURDAY 9 AUGUST LETS CELEBRATE - Waterstones Bookshop - High Street Aware that RTBC has previously celebrated the diverse range of books of all tastes - both hard back and paper back format - on offer - however this RTBC recognises the tangible level of friendly customer service and advice welcoming people into the bookshop during twitchy times re High Street sustainability. Clearly there are many external pressures on all High St retailers - the economic climate + car parking issues ( lets not go there ) - as such shops have to re evaluate their ethos re how to continue to keep customers coming through the door + encourage them to spend + encourage them to return. Waterstones staff by instinct adopt a smile to welcome - a great selection of books to tempt the customers - then make the customers feel special whilst sealing the purchases and smiling again when the customer leaves. It seems to me a good way of promoting a business during good times and bad - ie ensure the customer feels special whilst being offered a quality product in a welcoming environment - Happy to report Waterstones staff team are a shining example of this ethos - good news for Northallerton High St All Waterstones staff take a bow - Northallerton recognises a class act on the High St - long may the ethos continue - I will be back soon !
