Dear Northallerton Friends REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL - SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER LETS REMEMBER - For Your Tomorrow - We Gave Our Today RTBC No29 of 100 ( limited edition ) - Remembrance Sunday has and no doubt always will be a special day in the Northallerton calender - today was no exception. A sizeable crowd of local residents lined both sides of the High St between Friarage St roundabout and All Saints Church - to join in the two minutes silence at 11-00am + Remembrance Service led by C of E Vicar Fiona Mayer-Jones together with Ministers from other town Churches. The armed forces personnel from RAF Leeming + Catterick Garrison join with the townsfolk in a united fellowship to remember the fallen of The Two World Wars and Other conflicts since inc Iraq and Afghanistan. Added poignancy to this years Remembrance - 100 years since the start of WW1 recognised at the service + a local ladies organisation has recently added to the towns recognition of the point in time by surrounding the Market Cross in the High St with a knitted / stitched poppy and named badge for each of the local ( Northallerton / Romanby / Brompton ) young men who gave the ultimate sacrifice during WW1. All involved with making the day a Special Remembrance Day take a bow - Northallerton salutes the local fallen heroes of all wars - Lest we Forget !
