Dear Northallerton Friends REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL - WEDNESDAY 9 APRIL LETS CELEBRATE - Garthway Tearooms - Garthway Arcade Really not sure why I havent mentioned this traditional town cafe before ( opened some twenty three years ago ) or why I havent been in for some time - I needed a friend to remind me that Garthway Tearooms have always served up a good selection of locally produced food & drink offered at reasonable prices ( I thought my friend was somewhat biased by the fact that his daughter was part of the management team ! ) Visited this morning - I definitely agree with Joe S - i ordered a pot of tea + a bacon bun - the service was friendly & timely - the food was excellent - I paid £4 ( yes only £4 - bargain ) - which I felt was excellent value for money. The cafe was buzzing with a mix of regular locals + visitors to the market ( who presumably parked in Applegarth car park & called into the cafe before venturing into town ) - the daily specials blackboard menu referred to traditional lunch offer costing between £5 and £6 - caters for all tastes inc gluten free offer - stating all food prepared on the premises - may be a wait during peak times - well worth waiting for !. All at Garthway Tearooms - Northallerton recognises a traditional market town cafe offering good food at reasonable prices + thanks my friend Joe S for reminding me to promote a valued local offer.
