Dear PC Family, The U.S. Peace Corps Cameroon HIV Committee - TopicsExpress

Dear PC Family, The U.S. Peace Corps Cameroon HIV Committee would like to invite you to participate in our Race of Hope HIV/AIDS sensitization and testing campaign on 15 February 2014. The event will be held from 7:30 am until 4:00pm at the Buea Omnisport Stadium Molyko. Every year Buea is the proud host of the famous Race of Hope (The Mountain Race) and this year Guiness with serve as a major sponsor. For the past years the SW PC volunteers have conducted a HIV/AIDS sensitization as their Regional Project and this year the HIV Committee would like to add a HIV/AIDS testing campaign. At the Race of Hope we will sensitize the community to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS by teaching the benefits of condom usage and administering 1000 rapid AIDS/HIV tests. The HIV/AIDS sensitization and testing campaign is a day for everyone, whether youre an elder, a family member, friend, or medical professional. This day provides an opportunity for everyone to do their part in reducing the rate of new cases and the spread of HIV/AIDS within Cameroon. Taking in consideration that the Race of Hope is a major event, please note that housing/hotel rooms will become scarce! Buea has only ONE PC volunteer, Erica Johnson, and sleeping space is VERY limited. At this time, your best option is to reserve a hotel room in advance of the Race.
