Dear Parent(s): In early 2010, the movie To Save a Life hit theaters nationwide. This independent PG13 film about teens, the struggles they may face and the choices they make in their daily lives quickly struck a chord with teenagers and families. Overnight, the film received a #1 Fandango Fan rating and maintained it for over a month with viewers consistently commenting, “Every teen needs to see this film.” A preview of the movie can be seen by following the link shown below: A group of GHS students came together to organize a showing of this movie on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. There will be an adjusted schedule to accommodate the viewing of the movie. We understand that some parents may feel uncomfortable with their student watching this movie due to the situations faced by some of the characters. We will have an alternate option for kids who are not able to attend. The movie will last approximately two hours. Once the movie has finished, all students will have 30 minutes of reflection time in class. The story To Save a Life is based on the life of Jake Taylor, an all-star athlete who changes his life and sacrifices his dreams to save the lives of others. We feel that this movie discusses issues that are present at GHS. We believe the student body would benefit greatly from watching this film. If you do not feel comfortable with your student watching this movie, contact Mr. Wright’s office at 225-1000 extension 8205.
