Dear Patriots, Our sincerest apologies for being so late - TopicsExpress

Dear Patriots, Our sincerest apologies for being so late posting this very important information. On November 14th the Veterans Access, Choice, and Accountability Act of 2014 (VACAA) went into effect. This new law allows veterans who meet 1 of 3 conditions to seek medical care outside of the VAMC through contracted providers. The 3 conditions are, - IF you reside MORE THAN 40 miles from a VA facility (outpatient clinics included), OR - IF you are currently waiting for an appointment LONGER THAN 30 days from your preferred date OR the date determined to be medically necessary by your physician, OR - Veterans who are enrolled in VA healthcare who may be eligible for the Choice Program in the future. (Unfortunately, their is NO solid explanation for this one). The program was being rolled out in 3 phases, and as of today ALL 3 have been completed. If you have been deemed eligible you may have already received your card and information. All eligibility is determined AT YOUR LOCAL VAMC, Office of Eligibility. Sadly I must relay that as of this today the Eligibility Office at the VAMC NOLA is NOT ONLY completely uneducated thus far on the VACAA, they have NOT even begun to determine eligibility of any veteran, nor submit names to the appropriate office so that veterans being served by VAMC NOLA that qualify and are eligible can receive their Choice Card to get healthcare. We have reached out to our LDVA to ask for their assistance, and well reach out to members of our Congressional delegation as well. Well post any updates.
