Dear Petuniamig@s, we may have good news. P2 has tested positive for erlichiosis, a tick-borne disease, rare here but common in Mexico (note: the reverse scenario is also possible and true: there are diseases that exist here in what used to be Mexico till the US militarily stole the land, which are not common in what is now MX. I add the note because weve gotten lots of inappropriate comments from vets and others about her -- gasp! -- being a mexicana, which I wont dwell on further.) Okay, back to the GOOD news: its likely that she does not have epilepsy or a brain tumor, and that the seizures were caused by the erlichiosis. Shes on antibiotics, still stoned on anti-seizure meds, and antibiotic treatment will take awhile, but the prognosis is very good! Thanks for the love, everyone!
