Dear Porsche Fans, I have again had a really bad experience with Porsche Centre in Johannesburg. I have been contemplating this post since Friday and decided that I had to get this off my chest. I see myself as a real Porsche Brand Ambassador and by posting this, I by no means would like to knock the Porsche Brand, I believe Porsche Centre in Johannesburg is doing a great job of this themselves. Booking a Service and getting Proper Service after the Booking, is really a Shocking Experience. All I can say is - DONT take an Air Cooled Porsche to them!! The Independant guys are by far the best option and dont let anyone tell you otherwise. I booked in 2 Classic Porsches, a 1989 (930) Turbo and a 1995 (993) Carrera 4 on Wednesday 17 Sep after we drove them all the way from Bloemfontein to be on time for the booking on the 18th of Sep. I pre-ordered the Parts from Porsche in Cape Town (this is a Proper and professional Porsche Centre in my Point of view) because Porsche in Jhb is really unhelpful and clueless. I contacted Porsche in Jhb by telephone to book the 2 Porsches in and explained in detail as to what had to be done, and then booked the services. After arriving in Johannesburg a I met with the Service Advisor and commenced booking the cars in, only to realise that NOTHING I explained in detail over the phone when making the booking was noted down, except for the two windscreen replacements? The service I booked for the Carrera 4 was booked on the Turbos Job Card and I realised a huge stuff-up is on the way. On Friday afternoon the 19th of Sep the Service Advisor called me informing me that I made the booking incorrectly and they cannot work on the Carrera 4 because there was not enough time booked and if I still would like the work done, they will do in-between their other work and I had to pay storage for the time they are not working on the car? Now guys, remember I pre-ordered the all the parts required as some of it had to come from Germany. Of the 17 requested items, 90% of the work is quite simple bolt on, bolt off or screw off, screw on and something I could easily do myself if I had the time? Also remember that a Major Service and front and rear glass replacement was indeed booked, albeit booked on the wrong vehicle, by the person taking the service bookings. I also requested a courtesy vehicle for the day as we travelled from Bloemfontein by road, it was flatly denied as policy dictates no courtesy vehicles for Windscreen Replacements. We had to rent a vehicle from Budget to get around. Now you might ask why do the windscreen replacements in Johannesburg and not locally in Bloem? The answer is simple, only PG Glass is accredited by Porsche and the local PG Glass is totally incompetent when coming to Porsche Windscreen replacements and I cannot trust them with these valuable classic Porsches. An incorrectly fitted windscreen leads to rust issues which I cannot afford to happen. To end off, I still do not know when the work on my two Porsches will be finished and what I have to do to get the job done. I have my Cayenne booked for a windscreen replacement this coming Thursday and because this is apparently a two day Job for Porsche (half day for PG Glass accredited Porsche windscreen fitters??) I have to travel to Jhb from Bloem on Wednesday to be on-time 07h30 on Thursday, and book a TWO DAY sleepover, rent a car again because, remember no courtesy car for windscreen replacements. All this said, I really still enjoy Porsche Ownership, despite some incompetent Porsche Employees. Come on, Porsche Johannesburg, learn from your branch in Cape Town and get your act together - please!
