Dear Portland Birth Community, Message from Jesse Remer - TopicsExpress

Dear Portland Birth Community, Message from Jesse Remer Henderson!! I’m excited to announce that Mother Tree is shifting focus to exclusively offer doula training and education. The doula profession is growing!! There are many inspiring developments in Portland and it’s taking a special emphasis on doula training to meet the upcoming needs of the profession. As many of you may know already I have taken a lead doula role in the Providence Health System’s Pregnancy Care Package at Providence Portland Medical Center based at the Providence Maternal Care Clinic. As one of the first doulas I am supporting a demonstration model in 2013-14. The Pregnancy Care Package is providing a team-based model of care led by certified nurse midwives working in collaboration with RNs, birth doulas, prenatal health professionals and a consulting OB physician to achieve outstanding quality, patient experience and affordability goals for a diverse patient population. I am confident that we are making doula history and creating possibilities for a sustainable doula profession for many more doulas for years to come. If you have interest in my work here you can contact me at [email protected]. The demonstration! Fingers-crossed we show the amazing doula-role in action. As a DONA-approved doula trainer, I am looking forward to sharing my new experiences (and accumulated birth stories now that I average 12/month!) and adding it to the richness of my retreat-style hands-on training. I look forward to taking the leadership role to a new level. I am seeking approval for postpartum doula trainer training and Lamaze Education training and hope to be offering those resources in the near future. This will be added to the doula internship program, the student doula-match program and advanced CEU trainings. Though Mother Tree is changing emphasis it is not changing the dedication and commitment to the doula and birth community as a whole. A doula match can still be found through our website link in referral to Portland Doula Love LLC, the newly formed doula group with many of our great doulas providing birth and postpartum support. Portland Doula Love is founded by Wendy Scharp. A lead doula at Mother Tree for two years, Wendy and her team are excited to be offering the support for the Portland community. I’m happy she is willing to take work done here at Mother Tree and with dedication is going to create an amazing new resource for the Portland community. What you can still find here with Mother Tree: 1. Easy 1-step referrals to professional birth and postpartum doula care in the community through our website link to Portland Doula Love LLC. 2. Exceptional, hi-quality, interactive doula training (DONA Approved), mentorship programs, advanced training opportunities, placement for student birth leads and CEU programs. 3. Childbirth education & natural pain coping seminars with Jesse (based on availability–see schedule for details). portlanddoulalove
