Dear Praying Ones, Thank you for your prayers during this intense week of need. I had my surgery on Monday and have done pretty well. Even “pretty well” has been difficult. The recovery reminds me of my open heart recovery. The incision was made longer than anticipated so that the surgeon could repair an Umbilical Hernia that I also needed to have repaired. As a result I have an incision about 10 inches long. That is pretty significant. Surprisingly the pain issues have been handled very well in the hospital and here at home as well. The only glitch was that I had to come home with a urinary catheter and will have it managed and removed here locally. I will be glad to get this out. My sister Bonnie has been a true “God Send” in helping not only with my recovery but with Sandy’s management as well. It really helps that we all love having her around. Thanks Bonnie! Sandy continues to be more stable than we anticipated, but she longs for more energy. Her appetite is good. Pray for us as we manage some of the swelling issues in her feet that are a side effect of the steroid. We all have our moments of frustration but our love for each other and the abiding presence of our precious Lord have sustained and delivered us in these challenging days. We are so grateful for our loving helpful girls. God has blessed us abundantly. Thank you to the many of you who have given us the gift cards, flowers, meals and “thinking of you” cards. They have already been a great blessing and we thank you for your help in the weeks to come. Thank you for your giving us some room to recover by limiting your calls and visits. We miss you and look forward to worshipping among you again in the near future. We will probably not be there this Sunday, but we hope to see you the next week.
