Dear Randall, This week’s Supreme Court decision in - TopicsExpress

Dear Randall, This week’s Supreme Court decision in McCutcheon v. FEC removes aggregate limits on individual contributions to candidates, political parties, and political action committees. In other words, mega-rich donors like the billionaire Koch brothers now have even more leverage to influence our elections. Randall, this recent decision could spell disaster for campaigns like ours as the super rich rush into elections across the country. We need to be prepared, and I need your help to keep our grassroots defense strong. If everyone reads this and chips in $5 or more, we’ll be able to keep our campaign on track this month. Click here to contribute -- it only takes about two minutes. Because youve saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: Express Donate: $5 Express Donate: $10 Express Donate: $25 Or donate another amount. Dissenting Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer puts it bluntly when he says that this new decision “creates a loophole that will allow a single individual to contribute million of dollars to a political party or to a candidate’s campaign… it eviscerates our Nation’s campaign finance laws.” Elections are supposed to give voice to the people. They are supposed to be about who has the best ideas, not the donors with the biggest pocketbooks. This week is a sad week in the history of our democracy. And it is also a dangerous one. From here on out, the special interest money faucet will be on full blast. And the only thing strong enough to stop it will be grassroots organizations like ours. Give $5 or more to help out.
