Dear Reader; First let me say that Mr. Harper pirogueing the Federal Parliament in the wake of mass Senate expense abuses does nothing but emphasis the issue of Governments that have too much money who feel the need to siphon off our tax dollars into their own coffers as the rest of Canadians struggle to make ends meet. It’s time for real change. The Harper Government swindled the Ontario McGuinty’s Government into selling out Ontarians with the implementation of the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST); a tax that reaps tens of millions of dollars out of the pockets of Ontario Tax payers into the coffers of Federal bureaucrats. In turn this money has become so over whelming that the feds don’t know how to handle it, thus increases in their budgets, expense accounts etc have skyrocketed out of control. It’s time for change. The proposal is thus; E.I. is a tax, C.P.P. is a tax, H.S.T. is a tax, Income tax is self explanatory. All programs falling under this umbrella must be regulated and funded through one tax. At present the rate of taxation on the individual works out to 33.8% of gross income. For the employer that figure leaps to 46.6 % of gross annual income, making not only employment of personnel unlikely but detrimental to the employer by its burden. One tax one base of resources one department of contact, less government waste and bureaucracy which in turn equals better government. E.I. costs more than 60% of its gross revenue in administration fees; it has become a punitive system employing over paid civil servants without any concept of what it is the rest of society faces. Paid in excess of 45,000.00 per year with benefits and pensions on the backs of a system that was put in place for the unemployed worker. C.P.P. to have grown to become a white elephant its benefits are meager compared to the salaries received by workers and benefits and pension plans. While seniors who have worked their entire lives struggle in a harsh economic environment relying on gifts and food banks and low income substandard housing to live. Refugees are given more to live. The Federal Government has failed to recognize the burden their tax initiatives have placed on the economy; on the average Canadian trying to make ends meet and live in this economy. While the average wage in Canada has declined dramatically the politicians’ have salaries which have ballooned from 65,000.00 in 1984 to 160,000.00 in 2013 almost tripling their income not including their expense claims. One Tax, set at 17 percent, layoffs a crossed the Federal spectrum of employees, a complete restructuring of the social services system of delivery and no golden handshakes. M.P. wage reductions of 40% for new M.P’s and a cap of 130,000.00 on all M.P. salaries. All social delivery programs shall and need to be funded from one fund. E.I. rules need to be tightened so length of stay on E.I. is maxed at 16 weeks, no punitive actions taken by E.I. staff to disqualify claimants. C.P.P. shall be increased 25 percent and medical care issues resolved to the benefit of the senior. H.S.T. shall be reduced to 6% and all tax penalties and interest changes shall be revoked as punitive and counterproductive to a healthy economy. It’s time M.P.’s and M.P.P.’s started working for Canadians and not for themselves. Canada is built on the backs of its citizens from every walk of life every nationality and we as Canadians must stand and say, who is representing me? Government is built to benefit its citizens not to be self serving benefactors of free men. You want to pirogue government while changes can be implemented; it’s time to shut the doors and do a complete renovation of a system fatally flawed, desperately broken and unjustifiably cruel. Get at err! Sincerely Reuben Pyette
