Dear Rensselaer Park Families, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Rebecca McGrouty and I’m thrilled to be the next principal of Rensselaer Park Elementary School. I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of the Lansingburgh Central School District community for the past two years, as the Assistant Principal at Lansingburgh High School. My ties to the community go much further back, with my family being raised, and still living here in Lansingburgh. Prior to my time spent at Lansingburgh High School, I was an elementary school teacher in the Troy School District for nine years, having the opportunity to teach at several grade levels. One of the most important aspects of my work as Rensselaer Park’s principal is building solid relationships with students, families and teachers. It is very important to me to be in the hallway, classrooms, and cafeteria getting to know your child(ren). In addition to building strong relationships with all of you, it will be particularly important to me make sure that your child and you feel safe at school. If you ever have a concern, question about a specific situation or procedure, please do not hesitate to contact me. Communication is critical in a successful school. For this reason, I will always encourage your involvement and urge you to contact your child’s teacher or me with questions throughout the school year. The entire Rensselaer Park staff looks forward to building a partnership with you this year. Again, I am excited to become a part of this school community and would like to invite you and your child to a Meet and Greet on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. in the Cafeteria. During this time, you’ll also have the opportunity to meet PTA members who will be hosting refreshments, including dinner. At 6:30 P.M., 3rd grade orientation will begin. I would love the opportunity to meet the families who make Rensselaer Park such a wonderful school. I encourage you to stop in and say hello on that day.
