Dear Residents, The National Weather Service predicts that the remnants of current Tropical Storm Andrea will track up to the New England coast Friday into early Saturday. The main concern will be for heavy rain and potential flooding. Showers will overspread the New England region tonight, Thursday, May 5. However, the heavy rain and flood potential will begin midday Friday and especially Friday night. The rain will come to an end by mid-morning on Saturday. There is high confidence in a widespread heavy rain event Friday and Friday night resulting in at least some urban and poor drainage street flooding. It is also possible that a few small streams may go into flood. The axis of the heaviest rain still remains uncertain. Precipitation is expected widespread 1.5 to 3 inches of rain and locally with higher amounts around 4 inches. Some areas may see 2 to 3 inches of rain in just a 6 hour period Friday night. The Friday evening rush hour looks to be impacted. There is a low probability for a period of southerly wind gusts of 35 to 50 mph late Friday night/early Saturday along the South Coast/Cape and Islands. That would be the worst case scenario, and little wind is expected elsewhere. There also is a low probability for a period of Gale force southerly wind gusts across portions of our southern coastal waters late Friday night into early Saturday. Lastly, there may be some isolated thunderstorms across Rhode Island and Southeast MA Friday night, but any storms are expected to remain below severe limits. We want you and your family to be very cautious and safe during this time period. Please review our website, navstanewporthomes, to find additional information for National Disaster Safety. You can find this under "Resident Resources," then click on "Safety." If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact our office at (401) 846-8877. Thank you for your attention with this matter. The Balfour Beatty Communities Newport Team
