Dear Richard, 50 years ago, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. Today, Americans honor President Kennedy’s life, family, and policies nationwide. While many remember his tragic, untimely death as a symbol of his presidency, John F. Kennedy should be commemorated for teaching Americans the importance of active citizenship. What made JFK one of our most well known presidents was his vision of where he wanted to take the country, making it clear that he could not do it alone. Kennedy believed that every American citizen had the capacity to succeed and give back to our great nation. As we approach 2014, the Michigan Democratic Party counts on active citizens statewide to join the campaign, stand up for the middle class, and get out and vote. Today, the Michigan Democratic Party bears witness to the past for the sake of the future. Add your name to the list of Michiganders pledging active citizenship in 2014. Sincerely, Lon Johnson Chair, Michigan Democratic Party
