Dear Rockwern Academy Families: All grades at Rockwern Academy - TopicsExpress

Dear Rockwern Academy Families: All grades at Rockwern Academy will be open tomorrow (Tuesday, January 28) for a regular day of school, (including before and after school activities), even if as a result of the cold weather Sycamore School District has a delayed start or closes. I know this would be a departure from our normal protocol of following Sycamore’s lead and the reason for this is simply that with five days of instructional time already having been lost so far this year due to cold or snowy weather we must be more selective going forward as to when we close. There is one caveat, however. If, in addition to the cold weather, we also get a heavy snow and roads become icy and dangerous, then I may have to revisit this decision. So please always do check your e-mail, text messages, and television or internet for any further updates before bringing your child to school during such weather. If there are no further updates then Rockwern Academy will be open for a regular day of school. On such cold days I encourage families to get up a little earlier to give yourselves more time in the morning to get bundled up and to travel to school safely. If you decide to keep your child home because of the cold, please call the front office at the school to let us know and your child’s absence will be counted as a ‘parent excused’ absence. Make up work will be allowed for full credit. As the winter progresses we will just have to take it day by day and week by week from this point forward. But as for tomorrow, - at this time we do plan for school to go on as normal at Rockwern Academy. I hope most families will bundle up and brave the chilly morning air for the warmth of learning and community that awaits at school! B’Shalom, Dr. David B. Finell
