Dear SPEAK members As you all know, SPEAK has been operating at a reduced capacity due to changes in circumstances of the voluntary committee. As SPEAK has grown & developed over the past few years,membership and workload have increased massively for the four voluntary committee members. After consultation we feel that we can no longer operate at the level of professionalism that we usually do and because of this we will not be re electing a new committee as it is unclear if we will be operating in the new financial year (April 15/16) We have taken advice from the charities commission, DFE and Local Authority as to how we can continue as a voluntary organisation. Currently we are seeking advice from business development advisors as to whether we can develop a business model for SPEAK and have signed up to a support programme to look at employing current staff and other parents & young people from the wider community. If this program doesnt prove successful the four committee members will have no option but to stand down from all roles in the community. We hope you understand the pressures that we are under and accept our descision to move forward. We will re-evaluate our situation at the end of the support programme and make a decision and announcement by the end of March. Kind Regards SPEAK Team
