Dear Sarah by Major Sullivan Ballou -- who composed this letter to his wife in 1861 one week before he was killed fighting for the Union Army at the First Battle of Bull Run in the Civil War. The clip, shown below as it aired on Ken Burns PBS special about the War Between the States, brings a most full heart indeed.
