Dear Sir/Madam: It is our great pleasure to inform you that Citizen’s Forum on Sustainable Development is going to organize a side event aimed to influence the upcoming 68th Meeting of the United Nations General Assembly during 23 -27 September 2013. The side event titled “Making Sustainable Development Work for Developing Countries” will take place at the Conference Room of New York Academy of Medicine, 1216 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10029, USA on 26 September 2013 at 9:00 am. The objective of this side event is to put forward the “Dhaka Declaration” to the major groups, civil society and other stakeholders present in UN General Assembly and sensitize them on the efforts of the Citizen’s Forum on Sustainable Development in shaping the post-2015 development agenda. This event is expected to strengthen position of Bangladesh in the United Nation’s policy process in reflecting the stance of millions of common Bangladeshi citizens. Moreover this event will create a positive image of Bangladesh government among the international policy makers. We are also hoping positive press coverage of the event will generate support of global community in mobilizing additional resources to Bangladesh. The event will be chaired by eminent economist Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, Chief Coordinator of Bangladesh Climate Change Negotiation Team. It is expected that a good number of representatives of Bangladesh Government, academics, international leaders, experts and donors will attend the event and will have a meaningful exchange of ideas and experiences on sustainable development movement. On this occasion, we would like to invite you to participate at this side event and share your experience and findings in mobilizing citizen’s voice and aspirations on Post-2015 development goals with a special focus on how to promote sustainable development agenda into government and development partners’ interventions in developing countries like Bangladesh. Please let us know if you are present at New York during that time to attend the 68th meeting of the UN General Assembly and thus your availability in participating at the side event. We would also appreciate if you would propose another member of your organization on your unavailability to participate, who would be present in New York during that time.
