Dear Southern states, REALLY???? SERIOUSLY??? REALLY? You were warned, dudes! THEY gave YOU notice! Are you kidding me? Dont get me wrong, I feel for you sleeping in your cars, gas stations, department stores,(at least they had heat) I feel for the moms and dads that had to leave their babies at school, (warm, safe, schools with teachers and principals that ensured your children didnt die in a horrific wreck or become victimized by frostbite). It would be VERY challenging to my heart for sure. Would possibly for some maybe even be, traumatic. BUT SERIOUSLY? You had warning. Your employers had warning. Your government had warning and it seems to me, that if you live in a state that is crippled, by 2.6 inches of snow and ice, that your precautionary measures should be a little different than say, what we up here in the snow bulls eye would be. To me it seems like in a city that has little to no ability to plow or salt roads, you might consider, SNOW DAYS, for employees and school children, when the National Weather Service says, two days, ahead of time, youve got some weather on the way Sure we up here in the Great New Antarctica wouldnt call a snow day for that but, WE HAVE SNOW PLOWS, GRAVEL, and...SALT driven and dispersed by men and women, that work around the clock to clear the roads! Because, thats, the kind of weather we get in northern regions of our country. Yes, its more than usual this year, but, we live, in the north. More north of the equator than the southern states.(Did you know that Petoskey Michigan has more snow right now, than Nome, Alaska? Yep its a fact) Ok, so lets look on the bright side of this. This weather, hit your state, hard.(Its hitting virtually every state hard, in the Midwest hard, dont most winters?) For all the common folks stuck in their cars, well, it sucked. It was/is crazy and scary, intimidating and frustrating. The range of emotion that buzzed for you and us as we watch, was broad. BUT, while your Governor, Nathan Deal,(R) seems to want to make excuses and shuck blame on the weather services, (its my personal opinion that his response on the news, was fitting for a republican, and textbook politician) your fellow citizens, started to outreach, to those stranded. Local businesses, let you sleep in their heated buildings. No, it wasnt your bed, BUT IT WASNT SUB ZERO 20 MILE AN HOUR WINDS EITHER! Im sorry, from my heart, that this happened to you. I really am because, it REALLY should have not been so incapacitating. Live and learn!
