Dear Students, peace be with you! A good opportunity to put love in practice! There is some help needed for the Foodbank in Christchurch! There is an annual Brown Paper Bag Appeal encouraging people to “fill a bag” with food and provisions and donate it to our Foodbank to help and support families in need of food assistance. They try to support other Foodbanks in Christchurch and Canterbury and this certainly includes Catholic Social Services and all the St Vincent de Paul Conferences. Usually they receive about 10,000 bags filled with goodies. It is then their task to sort the bags into the various food items, etc. It is a mammoth task and they are always looking for willing people to help us with this. So if you or others would like to come and assist with the sorting we would be so grateful. - This will take place over the next 4-5 weeks in the underground car park at the Christchurch City Mission – 276 Hereford Street. - People can come Monday – Friday 9am – 4.30pm - Saturday 25 October and Saturday 1 November 9.30am – 2.30pm. - It is important to let Mary know by email or phone the day and approx. time people would be coming. Thank you for considering this – it is a practical outreach and “food” for the Common Good – and a great work of Mercy! God bless you and all your endeavours.
