Dear Sunni Muslim Men of India, The spirit of Quraan is Equality, Dignity and Justice to Women. The Quraan clearly directs all men to have one wife, as it is not possible for a human being to be fair to all or both in such relationships. Triple Talaq or Instant Talaq or Talaq in one sitting is banned in Majority of Muslim countries. In India also it is not practiced among Shia, Bohra, Khoja, Memon or Agha Khani Muslims. The sword of Instant Talaq, (leading to destitution) hanging over the head of Indian Sunni Muslim wife is a mental violence and terror, as it gives unjustified and arbitrary leverage to Indian Sunni Muslim Husbands. This blatant form of oppression, subjugation and violence must come to an end with immediate effect. It also brings bad name and image to our great religion that came into existence to bring respite to the vulnerable sections of all the societies, primarily women. Indian State must not shy away from its duty of protecting its vulnerable citizens i.e. Indian Sunni Muslim Women from patriarchal violence and injustice, and must support the process of reform within Indian Muslim Personal Law.
