Dear Tiffaney, Have you ever been faced with a decision that comes with major repercussions? Should I stay in this city, or should I move? Should I take this job offer or stay at home with the kids? Should I marry this person or that person? Should I stay at this company or start my own? Sometimes one decision in your life can have ripple effects that are felt for years to come. I want to ask you about one of the biggest decisions you will ever make. Are you going to live your life in fear, or will you determine to live your life by faith? I believe your answer to that question will set the course for your life from this moment on. The good news is this: When you choose to live by faith, fear becomes obsolete. Faith chases away fear at every turn. I know this is true because Ive seen it in my own life. Though I now travel the world, speaking to large crowds, there was a time when I was terrified to even hold a microphone. Fear tried to keep me from Gods promise, but faith propelled me into my purpose. I believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that the same thing can happen for you. If you choose to live by faith and say goodbye to fear, your life will be forever changed. You and I arent the only ones who have dealt with this issue. Consider the twelve disciples in Matthew 14. In this passage of scripture, the disciples are trying to cross the Sea of Galilee, but a storm has arisen and they are being buffeted by the winds and waves. I want you to see something in this familiar story that you might not have seen before: The disciples are afraid of their circumstance (the storm), and they are afraid of their solution (Jesus walking on the water). Fear has them paralyzed in the boat. If you know what its like to be stuck in a storm—troubled or in fear— Ive got an encouragement that is going to bless you today. Jesus can calm your fear and increase your faith! Bishop TD Jakes
