Dear Tower Neighbors, I have noticed a disturbing trend on this site...people encouraging other people to lie or exaggerate when they call the police, to get them to respond sooner! PLEASE DONT DO THIS! As a former dispatcher and a victim of a crime I know how frustrating it is when you are the victim of a crime and they dont come right away (or at all). But, I also know that contrary to what some people here may think, officers are not sitting in their cars eating donuts. The city of Fresno has way too much crime, and way too few officers and those that are out there are rushing from one call to another trying to protect lives and property. ( and yes sometimes they are doing paper work... which is part of the job). The department uses a priority system which puts situations that threaten PEOPLE ahead of those that only involve PROPERTY. Do you really want to be responsible for someone getting hurt so that your cold burglary report can be made sooner? If you call and say that someone has a gun (and they dont) your call may be dispatched before a situation in which someone really is armed. If you are tired of waiting for the police, then support the department with your voice and votes!
