Dear UK friends, if you take just one TV recommend (of an old show) from me this year (and if you havent already seen it) watch the BBC4 re-run of classic 1980s thriller Edge Of Darkness, next episode (2/6) on Monday night 10pm. Its not on the iPlayer sadly for stupid rights reasons and, worse, they hardly advertised it and launched mid World Cup nonsense. But Edge Of Darkness is one of the very finest dramas EVER made (perhaps THE finest). If you enjoy the atmosphere/class of the current Danish vogue, imagine that with Bob Peck acting his socks off, a hugely resonant eco/nuclear conspiracy vibe and a lean into the deeply metaphysical as the climax nears. Its IMPOSSIBLY good (and honestly, dont know why Im banging on about the TV re-run, just go buy the series on DVD, it should be in every collection). x
