Dear Universe, Speaking of dark matter, the world seems really - TopicsExpress

Dear Universe, Speaking of dark matter, the world seems really screwed up lately. Humanity seems to be suffering from some form of sovereignty syndrome. The sovereignty of religion; states, leaders and neighbours seems all screwy. People claim they want to protect their liberties but they are choosing to do it by imposing on peoples rights. It is troubling, and seems so unnecessary. In our schools we teach that bullying is wrong. Does it stop being wrong as we get older? I get sad. I get angry. I feel hopeless. These are just a few of the things I have been trying to reconcile. (Spoiler alert - its depressing) Syria continues to be a disaster - but it has become old news - the fifth or sixth sound byte on the evening news. Refugees are eating bird food. I suppose the birds in turn will eat the people. While Russia will not admit it, a part of Ukraine is occupied by their armed forces. They may not be Russian, you say? Are you telling me Russia wouldnt be concerned with the occupation of an unknown entity in the Crimea? Please! In America and other parts of the world, people who claim to be concerned about the sanctity of their own marriages cannot stop trying to interfere with other peoples marriages. Who has time to worry about other peoples marriages. Its hard enough to remember a quart of milk. An American in Uganda - Scott Lively, an evangelical crusader against LGBTI rights is helping to write laws in foreign countries. Among other atrocities this meddling has lead to a gay man being burned alive in the streets of Uganda as a warning; an example to children. What part of his faith allows Lively and his sort to spread such hate? To kill. He has been charged with crimes against humanity. When does the bullying stop? In Russia doctors are paid $400 a week (if youre a specialist) but the same country spends $50 billion on a two week sporting event meant to showcase the success of the country. In this same country gay people are lured, beaten and murdered... some as young as 14 for being gay. Protesters are silenced. Artists beaten for criticizing their government. It is obviously a failed state. It cannot mete diplomacy so it allows instability to surround it. Distractions allow for the continued barbarity. And to think an unseen asteroid could appear out of our peripheral vision and end it all. Wouldnt we be sorry then, looking back at all the time we wasted not loving, not caring for each other; trying to get things. So, our little blue marble seems a smaller lately, smelly, dirty. You have no idea how my heart thrills at the prospect of another habitable planet somewhere; anywhere. Not for me or for humanity to conquer or even visit but for the idea that there is hope and possibility somewhere. It reminds me to be grateful for the little things: to see the beauty in a crisp breath of air; in the expressions of love with those I hold dear. It gives me the courage to exchange a smile with a stranger; to feel the sun warming my face in the cool air that surrounds me. Another planet...elsewhere. Yes. Fill me with compassion. Remind me to express it. Om. Thanks, Ron
