Dear VU Students, AFISS will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 23rd October, 2013 at 5pm City Flinders Campus, room 9:15. Light snacks and drinks provided. AFISS are in their second year and aims to bridge the gap between a student’s university life and their careers. As you would know, entering the professional world is quite a daunting prospect and our goal at AFISS is to provide students with access to information, provide a support network and help develop them into young professionals. AFISS are proud of the events that they have brought to you which include Q&A Industry Night (Sem 1 2012): guest panel from CBA, AMP and Next Digital The Application Advantage (Sem 2 2012): guest presentations by VU Alumni - Amy Wood, KEAT International; guest attendees ANZ, CBA, TWU Super, Lion Capital, PwC, KPMG, Deloitte, Next Digital, Keat International, CPA Ernst & Young Presents: The application process and job interview tips (Sem 2 2012, Sem 1 2013, Sem 2 2013) AMP Horizons Presents: Rapport Building Workshop (Sem 2 2013) The Application Advantage (Sem 2 2013) guest presentations by Barry Nguyen, KEAT Partners, CPA; guest attendees AMP, PwC, KPMG, GSG The successes of AFISS are not possible without the hard work of committee members. You will have the opportunity to learn invaluable skills and lessons to assist you in gaining employment as well as develop yourself personally. We invite anyone who is interested in joining AFISS as committee member to attend the AGM and present a 1 minute proposal as to why they should be elected in an informal round table setting. We understand for some of you that this may be a daunting prospect and we invite you to personally make contact with either Beno or Katherine (contact details below) to discuss the options available. If you are unavailable to make the meeting, we can Skype you in so as to give everyone an equal opportunity and unfortunately if you can’t make this date, you cannot be considered for a Directorship role. The positions available will be as follows: 1. President 2. Vice-President 3. Treasurer 4. Secretary 5. Sponsorship Director 6. Marketing Director 7. Communications/IT Director 8. Events Director Position Descriptions for Director roles attached. Officers will be required for the Marketing and Events. Officers are to assist their Director. - It should be noted that Directors will be required to allocate approximately 10 hours to AFISS a week, and Officer positions will require 3 to 4 hours of work per week - To be considered for a Directorship role you MUST BE ENROLLED FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR OF 2014 - President role ideally would be studying full time and not working more than part time hours Please respond to this email with your expression of interest as well as your first and second preference for a role.
