Dear Victoria Beckham-Welcome to Kirinyaga. Today as I listened to the local radio station, I heard the presenter say that in an interview you did with Vogue Magazine, you described Kenya as being in your bucket list of countries to visit. For a moment I felt a strong push from my loins, a push of patriotism that binds and ties me the garment of Kenya. Victoria, as you make plans to visit Kenya allow me to introduce and welcome you to a place where all the people in the world want to visit-Kirinyaga. You see Victoria; I believe you want the best things. You want to visit unique places. You want to interact with people whose souls radiate with life. If this is what you are looking for, then Kirinyaga is the place you must visit. Kirinyaga is a beautiful county. We are richly endowed by nature. Above all, we are a mosaic of different clans, tens of dialects and multitudes of histories. Some of us are farmers. Some are scientists. Some are highly educated, others just literate. Some are very successful and prosperous while some hold their own. The beauty of Kirinyaga is in her people! The people of Kirinyaga are inseparably woven together by a common destiny and a unique oneness underpinned by common values. Hospitality in the midst of adversity and willingness to joyfully share resources even in a situation of scarcity and need are two values that will fascinate you about Kirinyaga. Victoria, Kirinyaga is beautiful. Its beauty is unrivaled. Do not visit other places in Kenya and end up missing the breathtaking morning view of the snowcapped Mount Kirinyaga. It is only in Kirinyaga where we have a bridge that connects the mind to heaven-the popular Ndaraca ya Ngai (Gods bridge). This is the beauty I know you would want to see and witness. This beauty does not end here. Victoria, how about visiting the Kamuri water falls near Muchagara and getting the magical waters to heal and soothe your skin? I know you are scared of heights but Kirinyaga will help you overcome this once you do two or three bungee jumps at Sagana. As you marvel at your ability to overcome this fear of heights, you can try the rapid falls and do some boat rafting to inspire your 2015! Victoria, I know you have an eye for making that extra coin. Kirinyaga has what is missing from your portfolio. We have the Mwea national reserve which is still untapped! Together with the county government of Kirinyaga we could explore some win-win scenario for all parties! Victoria, do you love birds watching? Do you like to spend an afternoon game shooting? If the answer is yes, Kirinyaga is the place to spend your vacation. I am not sure if your boys will accompany you for the trip. If they do, then be worried not because Baricho will offer the lads just the perfect place to fine tune their soccer skills. They will be able to train alongside the best of the best in Kirinyaga including Kata Pingu, Adinesi, Katelega, Babu, Waminae among others. I am sure your sons will pick a local nickname. I see your son getting nicknamed “Kamuthu” I understand that Vogue magazine could only offer you space for 73 questions. This must be the most unfortunate thing I have read this year. Could they not have asked at least 150 questions? Do not worry. Kirinyaga Star will give you space even for 1000 questions. We will not ask how you met David. Victoria. Welcome to Kirinyaga. Oh dear Kirinyaga, this county tis of thee, sweet land of the best! Oh Kirinyaga how thy name we all love and adore. We all love thy soil and weather. Thy bushes and templed hills, our hearts with rapture fills like it should always be. Victoria, do you know the name ‘Posh’ in Kirinyaga means Kamacau?
