Dear World, As promised...announcements. I can promise that - TopicsExpress

Dear World, As promised...announcements. I can promise that this will be long and a little personal. (So, theres youre warning!) My original plans for The New Orleans School of Burlesque were to have us in a new free standing space at the start of 2015. A lot of that plan was tied into my 4 year relationship that recently transitioned. So, here comes a new plan. I originally started teaching classes in my own studio back in 2008 in Belle Chasse. About 3 months after I started teaching, I had a quick meeting with Kryss Statho at Envie. Hurricane Gustav was on its way but we wanted to discuss moving the classes to Crescent Lotus Dance Studio once the storm had passed. That studio has been our home ever since. I started with just one class a week, then 2, and then added private weekend classes. Over the years, The NOSB has grown exponentially from its humble beginnings. However, it does still need to be in its own freestanding studio to continue to grow in the way that it can and should. I am still on the search for the perfect space that will serve as the home for The NOSB! I know its out there and I will find it (or, it will find me). In the meantime, we will continue to have classes held at Crescent Lotus. Cherry Brown will teach the weekly walk-in classes on Tuesdays at 6:20pm and Thursdays at 7:15pm. I will teach private classes and specialized workshops that will be held on various days and times throughout the months. Meredith Missmonarchm will continue as Private Party Coordinator and organizational badass. My promise to you: There will be a space dedicated to offering classes on all facets of burlesque. There will be a home for you to explore the sides of you that are buried deep down and want to be expressed through striptease. There will be a studio for you to rehearse, a studio for your to build your community and find support, a studio for you to be your 100% authentic self. Thank you for your support over the years and your patience as this new plan begins to take shape. I have felt a lot of despair over the last few months. But now, I feel hopeful that there is more in store than I can even really begin to understand. Classes resume on January 13th, 2015 at Crescent Lotus. I hope youll continue to join us in this journey in keeping burlesque alive and empowering people through this art. Love, Bella nolaschoolofburlesque
