Dear Zane, I need advice please. My name is _________ Im american my boyfriend is African we been together since August of this year. Of course because of our culture we see things a little differently. But moving on.... Its like all I get from him is I love you I want us to have kids an be married. He do nice things for me. Everyone knows were together. He tells every one that he loves me Im every thing to him. But when he gets around his one friend which is a man. Everything change. Its like I dont exist. My boyfriend pays me no attention his friend disrespect me an my boyfriend does nothing about it. But if I do something to his friend ten my boyfriend would leave me. And spend the night with his friend. Even if we dont get into it. My boyfriend would find reasons to say were mad and he needs a break. So days he would leave the house give me a kiss say he loves me and that he coming back and 2 or 3 days go by no call no text or nothing from him. He no that hurt me.I tell him how that makes me feel.. and still he disregard it.... Please CAN you tell me what to do. Whats going on with him. MY RESPONSE: You started dating in August so what house is he leaving for 2 or 3 days at a time? Thats the first issue: you started shacking with this man way too quickly. As for the disrespect, only you can decide whether or not to tolerate it. I hope this is not one of those situations where this man needed a place to lay his head and you provided it for him. That is the vibe that I am getting from this. He may not be leaving the house because he is mad. He may be leaving the house to go be with another woman. If he is disregarding your feelings this soon in the mix, that needs to be the end of it. I am going to pray that you get away from this man. It has nothing to do with cultural differences. It has everything to do with being mistreated. Take your time in the future when it comes to men.
