Dear Zane, I really do respect you and some of your viewers opinions so please help me. I am a 24 year old woman recently engaged to my sweetheart of 2 and a half years. About one year ago he moved in with me and weve always split our bills 50 50 with no problem. Last October he injured himself very badly (was already in between jobs) and had to get surgery. In the middle of all of this his source of income gets cut off. I with no question paid the whole rent plus food from October through March. As soon as he healed and went back to work he stepped back in with bills. I told him when he was injured I needed his help buying a car and he agreed. Well now he has a death in the family across the country and he just came from that way a couple of weeks ago saying his goodbyes. Now hes going back and also helping funding a family member to go as well and is telling me he cant help me buy a Car. We live in a bad neighborhood and the reason I dont have one now is because I was paying his part of the rent. I am pissed. I know he has a good reason but is it really a good reason? Signed, Anonymous MY RESPONSE: I am sure that it is a good reason for him but if the funeral has already taken place (which he attended), I do not understand why he needs to go back right away and pay for someone else to go. I could see if he used the money to pay for another relative to attend the funeral. Maybe I am missing something. At the end of the day, I believe that a person should be true to their word and if he gave you his word, he should keep it before giving his word to someone else. Just my opinion. Good luck.
