Dear all, Firstly a huge thank you to all who entered a team into last weeks Golf Day. My apologies for the slow round on the day, partly due to demand and putting a couple more teams into the day than I probably should have; I sincerely hope it didn’t spoil anyones day. Once again we enjoyed some good weather which helps make the day, in particular the break at the halfway house! Before we get onto the results, a couple of items:- A Dunlop sand iron was found alongside the lake on the 9th, I’m not sure if someone has misplaced it or was trying to deposit it in the lake! Anyway if you are looking to retrieve it then contact Joel the club professional. Some of the raffle prizes remain unclaimed, this may be because you forgot to check or the prize was not to your liking, however if you still have your tickets and have blue number 30or 47 or green number 331 please let me know. It was a pleasure to see Professor Poulam Patel, Nottingham University Hospitals Head of clinical and academic Oncology at the club on Friday. We really appreciated him making the trip from Nottingham on a Friday afternoon to join us. It did however give us the opportunity to present him with a cheque for £15k, raised over the past year, to aid the research. Now the results from the 35 teams entered for the day: Longest Drive (9th hole): Ladies: Selena Terjung (The Delecta Bulls) Gentleman: Alex Brown (Nationwide) Nearest the Pin (5th hole): Ladies: Sylvia Mowbray (Sylvia’s Team) Gentleman: Nathan Danskin (Youngsters) Leading Ladies Team: Lady Tinkers – Linda Reeves team Leading Mixed Team: The Young One – Helen Grinham’s team Overall 2nd: Discomen (Jeff Kemps team – 90 points) Overall Winner for the day Caparo (Steve Unwins team – 93 points) Congratulations to Steve and his team who had a very consistent round with a good front nine and solid back nine. We must also thank our corporate sponsors for the day: Freshney Cargo Services/RMS LKAB Minerals HEI UK HFL Building Solutions D&D Transport Acushnet - Titelist Ping Europe Tesco Market Rasen Their contribution by way of sponsorship makes a huge difference to the amount we raise and are subsequently able to contribute to research. Of course we cannot miss out thanking The Red Arrows for their donation of the limited edition signed lithograph of the 50th anniversary flight and the generous bids to purchase, eventually going to Dinesh Shah. Through their generosity, and yours on the day we have raised a magnificent £3,364.24 to aid the battle against Melanoma & Skin Cancer. Attached is a newsletter produced by Prof. Patel explaining a little of how it is used. Finally, to all who contributed to the day: Market Rasen Golf Club for the use of the course, Janet and Pete in the clubhouse and the helpers on the day. Pete Bray for starting everyone off, my brothers Guy and Charlie for all their assistance and of course Di and Glyn for the halfway house. The Club have already agreed we can hold the event next year and although reminders will be sent early in the new year for diaries/calendars I can tell you it will be on Friday 2nd October 2015. Look forward to seeing you all then.
