Dear all, Greetings from banglanatak dot com ! Festival season starts with banglanatak, in rural East, the first village mela out of 12 scheduled village melas is on Oct 17-19 - Madhubani Mela. Then, we have Terracotta mela in Bankura on Oct 31-Nov 2, POT Maya (Patachitra Mela) in Mindapore on Nov 14-16 and Tepantar Mela near Shantiniketan on Nov 21-23. My colleagues Sharbani.banglanatak@gmail and Moumita@banglanatak are coordinating. Its worth a visit to these heritage villages, promoting community led cultural tourism initiatives. The fantastic music created by the first major collaboration - East West Local, is already live recorded at The Peninsula Studios, Noida on Oct 8 and we are presenting the same at WOMEX, Spain on Oct 22-26. The second musical collaboration will take place in Goa on Nov 4-8, between Bangla Qawwali and Rap musicians. 4th season at Akhra@Baitanik has started, the first week saw fantastic music presented by Arijit Chakrabarty and Surma Dohar. Its an open to all cultural space created by us at courtyard of Soumendranath Tagores residence at 4 Elgin Road. It will be our pleasure if you join us on the programme days at 6:30 pm. (enclosed the calendar). CamEra - our initiative to attract youth to heritage thru their lenses, has been launched in Goa already and ver 2 is launched in Kolkata. Arunima@banglanatak. CamEra Goa - Photo submission on Oct 17-26 and Public Place Exhibition is on Nov 6-9, 2014, followed by Gallery exhibition on Dec 19-23. No registration fee, all are welcome. A unique opportunity for the youth to do heritage photography and exhibit. CamEra Kolkata Ver 2.0 - This year it focusses on Heritage villages in Bengal. Participants have to visit any 1-3 villages any time and submit photos by Dec 29, 2014 and then public place exhibition will be held on Jan 9-11, 2015. Sufi Sutra preparation is in full swing. This year, we are planning to bring teams from Egypt (Dervish dance), Morocco (all women traditional team), Tunisia (chant music), Denmark (all women team), Spain and Sweden, other than the National ones (may be Rajasthan, Gujarat and Bengal). Dhaka - Jan 29-31 (hosted by Bengal Foundation), Kolkata - Feb 6-8, New Delhi - Feb 10-11 (hosted by ICCR).
