Dear all, I said I would be able to give you all some information - TopicsExpress

Dear all, I said I would be able to give you all some information on the way forward with the project. Having discussed it at the Board I can now reveal our likely timeline for both the mill project and our first phase project of the engine house. Following discussions with Heritage Lottery Fund our agreed target date for submission of our outline application is now 16th October The decision would be at end of January 2015 We would have up to 12 months to work up a detailed scheme so assume full scheme submitted by January 2016 approval of this would therefore be May 2016 Construction would start say May of that year so completion and opening would be May/June 2017. There is a possibility that we would fail at one or other of these points so we may have to resubmit applications with a consequent delay but we will go all out to hit these dates. On the engine house we have struck two problems. 1 we have discovered asbestos - quite a lot so costs have gone up. 2. the tender prices for the roof repairs have also come in above estimate so we are well short of the funds we require. As a consequence the Board has agreed we submit a further application which has to be in by 26th August for a decision on 30th September. A lot of work is needed so this is now being chased through. If successful we will be able to start work in October with completion of the roof in January for an Easter opening. A lot of work is needed, we need some luck so watch this space. The master plan is now being developed and we will want to share this and receive your views on it before we submit our bid to Heritage Lottery so we are looking at dates in September for a further public meeting which will show how we have responded to your views in a final scheme. We will of course keep you informed of progress. Peter
