Dear all, It has come to my knowledge that the LSC Incorporated Management Committee has issued an announcement today regarding the schools attitude on students participation in politics matters: // It is the La Salle College IMC’s position that for secondary school students, politics is a personal/family matter and views should not be exposed or imposed on others at school. Political matters are left at the front gate. Any absence like all absences requires a note from parents/guardians. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. // (Please refer to the attachment for reference) Personally, I feel very uncomfortable with the expressions of view should not be exposed... at school and Political matters are left at the front gate. While I understand that the school is entitled to enforce its policy on absences, I am concerned that the school may take a hostile attitude towards students discussing or getting involved in democratic movements in campus. I believe our school has always been nurturing leaders who are socially aware and care about the common good. No matter what ones view is, it is my position that the school shall not discourage discussion or participation under any circumstances. I would like to have your kind attention on this matter, and humbly ask for your views. I hope that as members of the Old Boys, we could voice out to defend our students liberty to act in accordance with their free-will, without fear to possible oppressions. Thank you.
