Dear all, Tourism Minister/Home Minister/kind-hearted wife of PM, anybody want to help this poor tourist? Please read this letter from a happy tourist turned angry and frustrated drive by snatch victim. Hi Thanks for phoning me. Please find attached the police report giving details of the drive-by motorcycle bag snatch on 8th July. The other document (which I will send by sms) gives the name and phone number of the police officer who took my report and told me that the last time this happened was one year ago!!! From looking in the newspaper and on the internet I can see that this happens extremely frequently. It is only a matter of time before someone is killed just for their bag!!! I was crossing the road with my neice - my two brothers and nephew had crossed the road only 2 minutes before and were sitting in the James Brooke Café. I would like to know if any vehicles witnessed the attack? I would like to know why the police are doing nothing to protect tourists in this area? Why are there no signs up even though it is happening every week? Why do the police deny it is happening? Why are hotels not protecting their guests - no signs in the hotels either? The police did not take it seriously - it is not just a bag theft - it is a dangourous and well-executed crime in which the victim can be seriously injured or killed! My whole holiday has been ruined - I have spent the past 4 days dealing with the british embassy trying to organise a temporary travel document to get home. My bank will not send me any money as I have no identification to pick up any money. My passport and drving licences were stolen! I will send you some photos by sms. I am finding it difficult to walk. I would like to make other touists aware that this type of crime is very common and potentially very dangerous. I would also like to mention in the newspaper that I was staying at the Grand margarita hotel and the staff were so helpful after it happened. They provided one car to take me to Malaysian immigration. Thanks and please email me if you have any further questions. Rachel Pinnock
