Dear all, We, APT- A Place for Theatre Performance and Research, are a group of theatre artists, folk performers, playwrights and technical experts from different parts of Kerala with theatrical experience of over a decade. We have been working on rejuvenation of theatre and folk arts focusing our efforts on the rural Thiruvananthapuram. We could present our play productions in National School of Drama’s Bharat Rang Mahotsav (2013), National Theatre Festival organized by Govt. of Kerala and at other prestigious festivals. Our latest production, ‘Kaalabhedam’, an independent Malayalam adaptation of renowned Kannada playwright Girish Karnad’s ‘Anjumallige’, has been selected for the prestigious Ranga Shankara Theatre Fest to be held in October, 2013. The play will be the only entry from Kerala in the festival which celebrates the 75th birthday of Sri. Girish Karnad. Ranga Shankara is the renowned theatre hub in Bangalore and their Annual Festival has become a cornerstone for performing communities and audiences of serious theatre in Karnataka and all over the country. Director Sam George is etching a place for himself in contemporary Malayalam theatre with plays like ‘Three Penny Opera’ and ‘Eatho Chirakadiyochakal’, the latter being staged at the 2013 edition of the prestigious Bharat Rang Mahotsav. The festival would be paying for the performance fee of one show but since we are producing the play from start from the scratch, the fee would not cover our production expenses. We look forward to kindred souls who are willing to lend a helping hand or the production of this play.
