Dear all, We are at a crucial juncture of our fight against corruption and established politics and so Im writing this post. Though this is not the first time Im awake overnight but I spent the last two hours contemplating, phrasing and rephrasing what to write and how to write. Finally Im writing this! BJP might form a government in Delhi in the coming few days. It has offered 2 ministerial berths and 4 committee chairmanship to 6 Congress MLAs and the deal would have been through had the AAP and all of us had not been here, united against corruption on one single platform. I joined this cause in April 2011 thinking that well get Lokpal in 4-5 and then Ill continue with my normal life. Those 4-5 days never finished. In 2012 I had to resign from job as it was hampering in the activism. Let go my childhood dream despite it being well within my reach to work for this cause. And I know Im not alone. Thousands of us did similar things. Sacrificed the time we gave to office, family and friends to work for a change! Didnt care about hikes and wife and parentss tantrums because we believe in the cause. And today, everything we worked for in past three years stands to be compromised. Whatever change we brought about, whatever little faith we were able to instill in people is at stake. BJP is about to form government in Delhi and render AAP almost meaningless at the national stage. Its not that AAP wont survive, it will, but its voice will be not that potent. The question is bigger! The question is whether the nation can survive without a credible peoples voice for next five years. Are we ready to compromise on that? Are we ready to give BJP and Congress a chance to loot India as much as they want to? Both these parties are leaving no stone upturned to harm and break AAP. They planted people deep inside us over a period of time, utilized some disgruntled volunteers and used money and muscle power in every sense of the word to hamper the growth of AAP, even break it if possible. If we dont unite today, if we dont start working together with firm belief on each other and the leadership then we will be playing into the hands of BJP and Congress. If we dont unite now, the idea of AAP will not die, it will just be pushed ahead by a few decades like the ideas of Gandhi and JP got pushed aside. AAP is trying to achieve nothing else but achieve what Gandhi and JP wanted to do in their lifetime, in their own manners and ways! Are we ready to let this idea get pushed back a few more decades? Are we ready to let another generation of Indians suffer? Are we ready to be coined as culprits of history who had a chance to rewrite Indias fate but failed because the volunteers, people like you and me, did not show enough faith on the leaders? Are you ready to lose? Waiting for your answers... Ankit, An AAP volunteer.
