Dear all, We are two days away from our Golden Jubilee - TopicsExpress

Dear all, We are two days away from our Golden Jubilee celebrations and preparations are in high gear. However we need to prepare ourselves spiritually even more carefully and intensely. We will be celebrating, which means appreciating and giving thanks to God, for all we have witnessed in these 50 years of our diocese. On 9th February 1964, Bishop William Dunne was consecrated as the first bishop of Kitui after it was raised from the status of an Apostolic Prefecture to a diocese. A lot has been accomplished. We thank God for the many graces by all of us... Thank you Lord! Fifty years are very few when we think of two thousand years of Christianity. As we look back, we are very grateful for the first missionaries who arrived in our land in Kitui, the Holy Ghost Missionaries, and celebrated the very first Mass in Museve, where we plan to have a Shrine of our Mother Mary. We are particularly grateful to the St Patrick Kiltegan fathers who continued the evangelization work among our people. We recall with great love and gratitude, our first bishop, Bishop William Dunne who is buried next to our cathedral. With him we remember so many missionaries, men and women, who worked tirelessly and left their life and health so that we could get Life through Christ our Lord. We wish to sincerely show our gratitude to all of them, both those who have already gone to our heavenly home and those still alive. We will therefore try to invite some of them to take part in our celebrations. Thanks to them we can celebrate our faith. Indeed, the Lord has made known his salvation to the nations. Welcome the grace form the Holy Spirit that the Lord wishes to send us in our Jubillee. Please make an effort to participate in your own way in the life of our diocese. We are a family, and the Lord will bless our family of the diocese of kitui, with many, many blessings. I look forward to many young men been touched to serve God as priests this year, as I also hope many will hear their call to religious life as sisters or brothers. We also take advantage to ask for strength and resolve to carry the Church forward. We, especially the youth, must support our Church, defend and give witness to our faith, and become Christs hand, for the others. We will be blessed with the presence of over 10 bishops, as well as honoured with the attendance of Our President, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, our leadership of Kitui County, and other dignitaries. May our blessed mother, our Lady of Africa, who is the patron of our diocese obtain for us many personal blessings and graces, and for all the diocese a big growth in our faith. This is the day that the lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it Karibuni mpate baraka!!! God bless you Sincerely Bishop Anthony Muheria
