Dear alums, Please find below a detailed summary of the events which unfolded at SANGRAM 2014. We congratulate all the participants for their bravado & hard work and extend our best wishes to the future contingents for the upcoming season. Badminton Women (Gold): The team from IIM K were far superior from the other two teams and won both the matches 2-0 without dropping a set. Table Tennis Women (Gold): Here too, IIM Ks team was much better than the other two teams and the way to the gold medal seemed to be a cakewalk. Tennis Women (Gold): The only match in this event was between IIM K and IIM B. IIM Ks team won the match 2-1, comfortably to secure the gold medal. Swimming Women (Gold): There was no match for the IIM K team as they won 42-3 against IIM B. IIM T did not field a team in this event. Cricket (Silver): IIM K started with a win against IIM T, but a narrow 21-run defeat against IIM B meant that the team had to settle for silver. Football (Silver): Here too, IIM K defeated IIM T comprehensively with a 4-0 scoreline but thanks to an out and out defensive game, fell short by a single goal against IIM B. They lost 0-1 to IIMB Basketball Men (Silver): A brilliant comeback win against IIM B set the team up for the gold medal match against IIM T. The team from IIM T managed to just sneak past by a 4 point margin to claim gold in this nail biting finale match. Badminton Men (Silver): From being 0-2 down, IIM K came back to win 3-2 against IIM T. However, the team couldnt come up with their best game against a fairly superior & well practiced IIM B and had to settle for silver. Basketball Women (Silver): The team won comprehensively against IIM T, but fell marginally short against the hosts and had to settle for the 2nd place. Kho Kho Men (Silver): The first match against IIM T was comfortably won, but IIM Bs team came out on top to clinch gold. Kho Kho Women (Silver): With IIM T not sending a team, there was only a single match and IIM B proved to be the better of the two teams. Pool Men (Silver): The team won their first match comfortably against IIM T, but missed out against IIM B by a 3-1 margin. Pool Women (Silver): IIM T did not field a team and IIM B clinched the solitary match of the event to win gold. Carrom Women (Silver): IIM K did not get off to a great start and lost the first match against IIM B. However, they got their act together against IIM T and secured the second place. Chess Men (Silver): This was an extremely close event with IIM K and IIM T fighting neck to neck. In the last couple of hours of Sangram IIM T just edged ahead to take gold. Chess Women (Silver): The team from IIM K lost to IIM B, but they were back to their best against IIM T and managed to take the second spot. Throwball (Silver): IIM K started off with a victory in straight sets against IIM T. The team put up a good fight against IIM B too, but unfortunately it wasnt enough to beat them. Swimming Men (Silver): The team put up a good fight against a formidable IIM B team but couldnt clinch gold. IIM T was a distant third. Hockey (Bronze): A draw against IIM T meant that IIM K had to beat IIM B to get gold. However, the team could not put their best foot forward and ended second best in the match. Tennis Men (Bronze): IIM B comprehensively beat both the teams. However, the match for the 2nd place was closely fought and IIM T managed to just edge out IIM K. Table Tennis Men (Bronze): The mens TT team couldnt put their best foot forward and ending up as 2nd best against both IIM B and IIM T. Carrom Men (Bronze): The team wasnt able to play to its potential in either of the matches and hence had to settle for 3rd place. Volleyball (Bronze): IIM B were comprehensive winners in this event. IIM K and IIM T were evenly matched, but IIM T turned out to be better on match day
