Dear bacon lovers, thank you ALL for attending Bacon Fest II. Our crowd was estimated at over 17,000 people, probably the most people our little city has ever seen at one time. WOW!! We know that some folks had some complaints about the festival and please know that your complaints are heard. We do ask you to please understand that Bacon fest was born in the Easton Farmers Market, located in a small historic city and managed by two staff people and a team of dedicated volunteers. It was not produced by a huge commercial festival corporation or State Fair organization. Our goal has always been to promote local sustainable farms, farm-to table food, local restaurants and drive the economy of our downtown. Its a tall order and we want our vendors to do well so over-booking vendors is something a festival organizer has to be cognizant of. It seems that despite adding an additional 20+ vendors and increasing the festival size by 6X we still could not meet the ravenous appetites of bacon lovers. And for that we are sorry. We GREATLY appreciate your support and understand that long lines are frustrating. We tried hard to provide a variety of fun free activities for families throughout the festival and provide plenty of dining tables and seating for your comfort. Were already planning for 2014 and working on securing MANY, MANY, MANY more vendors, more festival space and more parking. While its important for vendors provide enough product to last the duration of the festival its also important for customers to realize that farmers and local independent food purveyors arent machines; they arent McDonalds. Our goal is to create an enjoyable, quality family experience for all and we appreciate your constructive criticisms and thank all those who shared their positive comments. Sincerely, Megan McBride, Manager, Easton Farmers Market
