Dear brothers and sisters in Islam, right now more than ever we are being watched. More importantly we are being listened to. In this day in a age we have the opportunity to present ourselves in a manner befitting this great deen(religion). We have the chance to highlight those among us who represent us in a positive way as well as educate and/or condem those that seem to have lost their way and have replaced the love for Allah swt with hate and violence. Now is the time for us to unite. To let go of pety differences and start with the main thing that makes us one umma . That is our shahada, our declaration that there is no God except Allah (the God of Abraham) and mohamed pbuh is his messenger. We must unite under the five pillars. We must build from this foundation. Not as Arabs or non Arabs. Regardless of where we live or where we were raised. Not as sunny, sheikh or walking, but as fellow Muslims! We are all travelers in this short Dunya (world/lifetime) striving to make our eternal lives, ones of peace and joy. To my non Muslim friends and companions, this to can be a time of awakening for you as well. You know the beauty of this religion. Even if you dont choose to follow it yourself you can recognize its right to exist and flourish so long as it is not imposed or forced upon you. As this religion should be one based on education and knowledge not fear and violence like it is perceived to be by both Muslims and non Muslims. We as human beings have a unique opportunity to collectively choose logic and understanding over stereotypes and propaganda. We have the ability to see deep into the truth and reality of any situation. I have a lot of hope for all of us and would love to hear your thoughts.
