Dear brothers and sisters under the Kola Tree (Weatuzon). I greet you all in the name of our lord Jesus Christ. Once again I want to extend my profound thanks and gratitude to our sarpo brethren who have been inspire to bring all the saponian voices under a site called Weatuzon where millions of voices and ideas are interchange to strengthen our people both culturally and politically. The last time a question was raised by our brother Tico, in his question he asks to know the significance of Weatuzon or the meaning of Weatuzon. I am of the view that this is the time we all need to contribute our quota to the up brining of the young one in order for them to understand some symbols that we believe in as a group. THE IMPORTANCE OF THE NAME WEATUZON (UNDER THE KOLA TREE) If I am permitted to take you back to Liberia, you will realize that the name kola tree which we called in the sarpo dialect Weatu stands for culture value, for sustainability, for the eradication of hunger, it stands for traditional map etc, and of course have the ability to prolong sleep for the discussion of important matter(s) especially during the night for all Liberian in general, most especially for the south eastern people(Quaa). BREAK DOWN OF THE ABOVE MEANING. 1. Culture values: It is often said that one who give kola give life, symbolically if you split a whole kola, you will come to realize that half of it have the symbol of a heart, our people use it as a sign of a pure heart. For example, is it use to welcome a stranger and so on. 2. Sustainability: This same kola nut sustains our indigenous people when they are traveling a long journey where there is no water, the kola nut help to maintain their thirst. 3. Eradication of Hunger: During intensive farming in our traditional setting, the preservation of seed crop is on the high increase, farmer need to keep crop like corn, seed rice and any other crop that has the ability to survive the next farming season, during this period, a farmer can survive by only eating one kola nut with a green paper and water to go a whole day. This is clear evidence that sitting under the kola tree means a lot to our people. 4. Traditional map: If one takes a journey to a deep juggle and having to see a kola tree, something rings belt in his mind, the first thing would be, this is a settlement for prehistory people, or this could be an abounded area or settlement of our people. The reason is that when ever you see kola tree you feel the present of life and/or symbolically you see the footprint of existence people or you are approaching an inhabitants of living generation, this is why we considered kola tree as a traditional map that give so many directions. LIMITATION: Once again I’m of the view that, even though, we find ourselves in the political dispensation of Sinoe county in the political sub region of Liberia, but it is not every issue that will affect saponian will affect the entirety of Sinoe county, as a groups, we have our own internal problem which we need to solve by ourselves without the involvement of all the sinoean. Therefore, there are so many people that make up sinoe county and in order to deal with this, it will be best that we discuss Sinoe County under the Sinoe platform and at the same time, we can handle our internal issue differently as a group, it is a popular saying ‘’that if you can not put your house in order how can you put the next man house in order’’. So, my view on this subject matter is that any discussion that has to do with Sinoe County politic should not be discuss under the Kola tree apart from issues that relating to the Sarpo’s. Let learn to restrict WEATUZON and treat it as such (privacy). If we put ourselves together I think we will than be able to handle other problem that are affecting the county nationally and/or globally. Thanks Samuel Shekpeh Shekpeh (Ghana)
