Dear dog lovers, we represent a young animal welfare organization "NIRINA" from Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. We would like to familiarize you with the condition of the dog shelter in Tuzla. You should take a look at the videos and pictures on the group wall, it will say much more than words. There are around 500 dogs in this shelter at the moment, and before our contribution there lived more than 700 dogs. This dog shelter was established by one organization about 12 years ago. Ever since the living conditions were decreasing, and the number of dogs has been constantly increasing. In January 2012, we have established a group of volunteers consisted of 3 constant members and leaders, and many more active members, who helped us in realizing our goal. We fought a hard war against the former greedy, bad “management” to get this shelter into our hands and make it work properly, and after many hard battles, we won this war and got the shelter into the right hands. Now we are a registered volunteering organization and we exist solely thanks to our supporters from all over the world. We have already made many big improvements, and developed a strong network with Animal protection agencies in Austria and Germany, as well as separate supporters who give their contribution for the food for dogs every month and support all of our projects intended to provide a better life style for the dogs. There is a big change noticeable to everyone who has visited the shelter before us and who does it now. Still we have a lot more to do to make this place an acceptable living area. Dog shelter in Tuzla, does not have water, nor electricity. We have many problems with government here because of an absence of animal protection laws. For this to change we need big support from all over the world. I hope you will respond to our weep and help us make this place which used to be a cruel camp a nice place for our beautiful dogs.
