Dear everyone. We’re going to spend the next couple of weeks - TopicsExpress

Dear everyone. We’re going to spend the next couple of weeks going through the album with you track by track. We’re going to upload a new song everyday and tell you a bit about how we made it. In other words share a bit about the creation process with you the next eleven days. First song is coming up later today. A few words about the process in general: We had been working on a few sketches for years, but never really managed to get into a flow because of other projects. In the autumn of 2012 we finally all had some space in our schedules and decided to go to Fridolin and Frederik’s studio in Sweden to kick-start the process. We left Copenhagen October 29th and spent a week in Sweden writing and producing material. We had a few ideas before we went, but actually ended up writing most of the material during that week in Sweden. The first days we spent just throwing around sketches for beat, chords and melodies. After that we spent the last many days making vocals and productions, as well as writing a few last songs for the album. After we came home from Sweden we spent the next six months just polishing of the ideas. Michael made the final vocal recordings in Berlin and the Studio at Engelsholm Højskole and we met frequently to arrange the songs and finish the productions. Finally we sent the songs to mastering engineer Vlado Meller who finished the album. We picked Vlado because of his work with Kanye West. Michael had the inspiration for the lyrics shortly before the journey to Sweden while on vacation in the Alps. Fascinated by the crazy vistas of mountains and valleys this setting came to dominate the album – and eventually give us our band name. It was late 2012 and according to the Mayan calendar the end of the world was approaching. This thought, combined with the monumental views in the mountains, seemed an inspiring thought to throw into the lyrics. Some abstract idea of being the last persons alive, somewhere in the mountains. And all the thoughts that must run through a persons mind in such a situation. The grand setting seemed to fit the music on an album that lyrically came to deal with nature, Armageddon, love and self-doubt.
