Dear family, friends, neighbors and all who have shown love, support and concern during the loss of Angel. After much talking, praying and considering all avenues we, as a family, decided not to press charges in the case. I know many of you will be outraged to hear this, however I ask you to trust us in that this is how the most good will come from this awful event. There will be more long term good that comes from this resolution than could come from any punishment of the offense. More people, particularly those in the rural areas, need to know the law. I would ask each of my KY friends to tell at least one person they know in a rural area the truth of the law- you can only shoot a dog if it is in the pursuit of or act of attacking livestock. For all of you in other states find out what your law is and share it. If you are a praying person I ask that you pray for both families and our neighborhood. With any terrible event in our lives we have to turn each corner; from anger to sadness to healing. There are 5 of us and we are each in different places between the anger and sadness but we can see the next step. One thing I have learned through all of this is that I dont know most of my neighbors like I should. I encourage you all to know your neighbors! Another thing I have learned about myself; I think about people and I pray for them but I dont translate that in action as often as I should. Lastly I hope all of you will help your local humane societys and rescues as much as you can. They are doing great work in your communities and need resources! Not in a million years did I ever think something like this would happen, but not in a million years did I ever think so many people would show love and support! Blessings to you all!
