Dear fellow Malaysians, this year as we reflect once again on our now recurrent trysts with our fractured ethnocentric histories, it would be worthwhile to reflect on what one professor has bravely expounded... But I dare say, each and everyone of us must also look within ourselves in this necessary retrospective, and help shatter that covert genie of racism and fraternalism within our own ingrained psyche.... Lets all celebrate a better Malaysia for tomorrow for our children and for ourselves! As I sit in the airport lounge in Schipol Amsterdam awaiting the connecting flight to Barcelona, I am reminded that the world is moving and rushing along, whether with us in tow, or otherwise... be left behind in the dustbin of failed or failing states... We can mire ourselves in ethno-religious but meaningless quarrels that no one benefits from, but actually painfully detracts and distracts from nation building and achievement. Or, we can choose to move ahead as one, disparate but accepting of our multi-talented diversity and unique power of multicultural pluralism, that can penetrate hidden markets and breach other shores.... No one waits for Malaysia and Malaysians to wake up to join the human race of development, of great enriching diversity and individual achievements that enhances our human aspirations as a whole! Our ASEAN neighbours are no longer willing to be bystanders, bogged down by self-inflicted political games and corruption-filled inaction! Lets move forwards!
