Dear fellow fishermen and ladies. My name is Rudy Castaneda. I would like to start up a Heros On The Water Chapter here in the RGV. Heros On The Water organization take Veterans out on the water in kayaks to fish and recreational therapy. I invite you to check them out at: heroesonthewater.org Each chapter needs to raise money to buy all the equipment needed to provide a service to our valley Veterans who suffer from PTSD and injuries from their service to our country. The main office will contact me at the end of November to see if we have a team for the chapter. I believe that we in the RGV can step up to help our warriors. Im a Veteran and I have seen what our warriors go through. The greatest challenge for Chapters is finding volunteer warriors and building a solid team. Here are the main pieces a team needs to be built around. We require a minimum of four dedicated folks on the leadership team to start a chapter. a. Warrior recruitment and management b. Volunteer recruitment and management c. Local partnership development & fundraising d. Planning, acquiring and managing your equipment e. Planning and running your events f. Identifying, creating and sharing your warrior renewal stories for social media g. Operations reports h. Budgeting and finance reports Those of you that have kayaks are also needed for water support and as fishing guides. You are the stars on the team.
